Japan hosts disaster prevention and DIY events

Various disaster prevention and DIY events are scheduled in Japan to educate the public on emergency preparedness.

At the Tachikawa Takashimaya S.C. on September 5, 2026, a family-oriented event will offer hands-on learning experiences. Activities include simulating earthquake tremors up to intensity 7 using a specialized vehicle, navigating a smoke-filled room, and participating in AR fire extinguishing simulations.

Additionally, the 62nd JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2026 will take place at Makuhari Messe from August 27 to 29, 2026. Organized by the Japan DIY Homecenter Association, this large-scale event features 603 exhibitors. The show includes a dedicated preparedness zone where visitors can experience earthquake simulations, learn about crime prevention through glass film demonstrations, and participate in workshops for heatstroke prevention and home maintenance.
