Japan hosts food education programs for parents and children
Various food education initiatives for families were held in Japan to promote nutrition and awareness of food sources.
In Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, JA Zen-Noh hosted its 128th parent-child cooking class. The event involved 14 pairs of elementary school students and their guardians, who prepared four dishes, including chicken and summer vegetable curry, using domestic agricultural and livestock products provided by Zen-Noh group companies. The program aims to teach children the joy of cooking and deepen their understanding of domestic food production.
In Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Seven-Eleven Japan held a specialized workshop titled “Convenience Store Expedition! Choitashi Mission! Veggie Activity Class.” Based on a comprehensive partnership agreement between the city and Seven-Eleven Japan, the event taught 27 participants how to incorporate more vegetables into their diets using convenience store products. Participants practiced selecting balanced combinations from various items such as smoothies, rice balls, and side dishes to ensure adequate intake of vitamins and fiber.
