Japan hosts India in historic T20 International cricket match
Japan hosted India for a historic T20 International match at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture, marking the first time Japan has hosted India in international cricket. The match, organized by the Japan Cricket Association to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan, saw record attendance for cricket in Japan with 2,149 spectators and over 2 million online views.
Due to rain, the match was reduced to five overs per side. Japan's bowling performance restricted India to 32/4, but Japan narrowly missed victory, falling just two runs short of the target while chasing.
Japan captain Kendell Kadokawa-Fleming described the match as a significant learning opportunity, noting that despite the ranking gap, the team played with confidence. He emphasized the need for expanded grassroots programs and improved training systems to bridge the gap between Japan and the world's top-tier cricket nations.
