Tokyo and Yokohama host major AI exhibitions and conferences in 2026

Japan is holding a series of large‑scale AI events in 2026. The AI Expo Summer 2026 will take place on 26‑27 August at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building, featuring 100 exhibitors, over 200 AI products and solutions, and more than 40 conference sessions, with an expected 10,000 visitors. An archive of the AI Expo Spring 2026 talks, held in April at the Tokyo International Forum, is now available online.

Rakuten’s “Rakuten AI Optimism” will run from 5‑7 August at Pacifico Yokohama, offering free exhibition zones on mobile, fintech and sports applications of AI, plus a business conference with guest speakers such as talent Ichiro Ijūin and Waseda University professor Shōei Iriyama.

The Digital Knowledge Summer Conference on 23 July in Akihabara (also streamed online) will focus on using generative AI for talent development, with a keynote by Professor Ryūsuke Ōba of Tsukuba University and demonstrations of AI‑driven training tools.

The Tokyo Youth Chamber will conduct free, two‑day workshops for school teachers on 30 July and 3 August, teaching practical uses of generative AI for routine school tasks and highlighting safety and copyright considerations.

Finally, the JASIS 2026 exhibition will be held on 2‑4 September at Makuhari Messe, bringing together more than 430 companies and expecting 24,000 attendees to showcase AI‑enabled lab automation and related technologies.
