Japan housing market: Resale value and relocation challenges
Recent insights into the Japanese housing market highlight the importance of asset value and the challenges of relocation. For long-term financial stability, experts suggest prioritizing resale value by choosing older, centrally located condominiums over new builds in remote areas. Properties within a 10-minute walk of stations, located in developing urban areas with high convenience and low disaster risk, tend to maintain their value better.
In a survey of rental relocation experiences in the Tokai region conducted by NEXER Group and Blue Box Co., Ltd., 50% of respondents reported difficulty finding properties that met their specific criteria. The primary factors driving relocation were environmental improvements and rent adjustments. When selecting new homes, the most prioritized features were floor plans (66.1%) and rent (54.8%).
