Japan infrastructure: Takatori Bypass and Kita-Yasue Izumo Line nearing completion

Major road infrastructure projects in Japan are nearing completion. In Nara Prefecture, the 3.4km Takatori Bypass on National Route 169 is scheduled for full opening on October 31, 2026. This project, which began its formal process in 1998, aims to alleviate long-standing traffic congestion in Takatori Town and improve access to the Yoshino area. The bypass is expected to reduce travel time from the Kyonawa Expressway to Mount Yoshino by approximately eight minutes and significantly decrease emergency transport times to Nara Prefectural Medical University Hospital.

In Kanazawa, the Kita-Yasue Izumo Line urban planning road is expected to be fully operational by late November. The completion of the final 322-meter Izumo section will connect the approximately 2.4km route running parallel to National Route 8. Mayor Taku Murayama stated that the project will facilitate smoother traffic flow and improve the living environment in the area west of the station.
