Japan launches fresh corn sales events in Tokyo's Nerima and Toyama Airport this August
A "Mirai" sweet corn instant‑sale fair will be held on 1 August 2026 at the south‑exit plaza of Egota Station in Tokyo's Nerima district. The event, organized by the UEDA Nerima BASE of the Shinshu‑Ueda market, will offer 500 freshly harvested corn kernels from Ueda City, limited to a "sell‑out‑when‑finished" format.
Separately, the private operator Toyama Airport will host the "Hokkaido Saturday Market" on four afternoons in August 2026 (1, 8, 23 and 29 August). The market will sell approximately 300 freshly picked Hokkaido corn ears each day, flown from the Miyagawa Farm in Ebetsu, Hokkaido, and sold directly in the airport’s central lobby. The initiative highlights a rapid‑logistics model that moves corn from harvest to consumer within hours, promoting regional produce and local food tourism.
