Japan launches new AED and life-saving education initiatives for children
Various initiatives in Japan are launching to promote Automated External Defibrillator (AED) awareness and life-saving skills among children and families.
The Japan AED Foundation, in collaboration with Benesse Corporation, is releasing an online game and educational leaflets on September 9, ‘Emergency Day’. The game, featured within the ‘Shimajiro App’, allows young children to learn about finding an AED and performing life-saving actions through interactive play. Educational materials will also be distributed to parents to explain proper AED usage.
In Chiba Prefecture, the NPO Chiba PUSH (Chiba AED/Life-Saving Promotion Research Group) will host a hands-on training event in Ichikawa City on September 6. The session is designed for parents and children to experience chest compressions and AED use in a practical setting. The event aims to increase the number of people capable of responding to sudden cardiac arrest in the community.
