Japan launches themed rickshaw tours to promote local culture to tourists

Various hospitality and food companies in Japan are launching specialized rickshaw tour experiences to cater to the growing influx of inbound tourists.

In Asakusa, Nagatanien has introduced a branded ‘Ochazuke Rickshaw’ running from August 26 to September 15. The initiative, held in cooperation with Tokyo Rikisha, aims to introduce visitors to Japanese culture through the traditional taste of ochazuke. Passengers using the wrapped rickshaw receive complimentary cup-style ochazuke and original fans.

In Tokyo's Shiba Park, The Prince Park Tower Tokyo has announced the ‘Shiba Park Autumn Rickshaw Tour’ scheduled for November 2026. This seasonal experience offers guided tours through historical sites such as Zojoji Temple and Momijidani, allowing guests to view Tokyo Tower and seasonal autumn foliage. The hotel provides different tiers, including a premium 120-minute course and a 90-minute photography-focused plan.
