Japan leverages energy security expertise to support Vietnam

Japan is leveraging its historical experience with energy security to support Vietnam's energy transition. Following the 1973 oil crisis, which led to Japan's first post-war negative GDP growth, the nation implemented a multi-pronged strategy focusing on stable supply, energy efficiency, and diversification through initiatives like the Sunshine Project.

Currently, Japan is positioning Vietnam as a central part of its regional green strategy through the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) initiative. This partnership aims to assist Vietnam in managing its rapidly growing energy demands as the country seeks high economic growth amidst global supply uncertainties.
