Japan logistics giant AZ‑COM Maruwa launches JPYC stablecoin payroll for 2,300 carriers
Japanese logistics firm AZ‑COM Maruwa Holdings, a major Amazon delivery partner, will begin paying about 2,300 subcontractors and independent drivers with the yen‑backed stablecoin JPYC. The company is investing ¥1 billion in the initiative, which effectively doubles the total supply of JPYC, Japan’s first regulated digital yen that launched on 27 October 2025.
The rollout marks the first large‑scale corporate use of a regulated stablecoin in Japan under the revised Payment Services Act, which permits collateralised yen‑pegged tokens for B2B settlements. By moving payroll‑like payments onto a blockchain‑based instrument, AZ‑COM Maruwa expects near‑instant settlement, lower transaction fees, reduced reconciliation work and a transparent audit trail, signalling a potential shift in corporate payment practices in a market still dominated by cash and traditional bank transfers.
