Japan man arrested for cutting trees with chainsaw to take photos

A 23-year-old man from Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, has been arrested for damaging railway property on the JR Kushiro Wetland Line in Hokkaido. The suspect, Kodai Watanabe, allegedly used a chainsaw to cut down trees on railway land to improve his view for photography.

Watanabe admitted to the act, stating he wanted to take better photos of the ‘Yuyacho Norokko-go’ train during its final runs. His actions caused the felled trees to strike communication cables, leading to charges of endangering train operations.
