Japan men's basketball team set for August TV broadcast schedule ahead of 2027 World Cup qualifiers

Nippon TV (BSN) will air three Japan men's national basketball games in August as part of the final qualification round for the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar. The matches are Japan vs Mongolia on August 10 (BS broadcast), Japan vs Korea on August 15 (nationwide terrestrial broadcast) and Japan vs Qatar on August 31 (nationwide terrestrial broadcast). Former basketball special caster Kikkuchi Fuma will appear in each program with interviews and special features.

TV Asahi’s “August TV Asahi Basketball” campaign will also cover several key games. It includes a special match hosted by NBA star Rui Hachimura on August 8, Japan vs Mongolia on August 9, Japan vs Korea on August 16 and Japan vs Saudi Arabia on August 27, all streamed live. Actress Hirose Suzu will serve as a special booster for the broadcasts. Both networks emphasize that winning the Asian qualifying slots secures Japan’s place at the 2027 World Cup and a berth for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
