South Korea wins U-18 Asian Baseball Championship
South Korea's U-18 national baseball team won the 14th U-18 Asian Baseball Championship, securing their sixth title and their first in eight years. The team achieved a perfect tournament record, winning all six games.
In the final held at the Taipei Dome, South Korea defeated Japan 2-0. The victory was anchored by ace pitcher Ha Hyun-seung, who earned tournament MVP honors. Ha delivered a dominant seven-inning shutout in the final, striking out eight batters and allowing only one hit. Throughout the tournament, Ha recorded three wins, a 0.00 ERA, and 25 strikeouts over 15.2 innings.
South Korean head coach Jung Youn-jin noted the high level of talent across the competing nations, specifically highlighting players from South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan as a future golden generation. The tournament also showcased significant advancements in scientific training methods among the top-tier Asian youth programs.
