Japan Meteorological Agency ends visual snow observation in Shiga

The Hikone Local Meteorological Observatory in Shiga Prefecture has transitioned its method for observing the first snow cover of the season. For over 70 years, officials at Mt. Ibuki and the Hira mountain range relied on manual visual inspections to record the first snowfall.

This traditional practice has been replaced by data analysis utilizing the latest technology. The change aims to provide more objective and consistent observations for the region.
