Japan Meteorological Agency predicts warmer winter trends
The Japan Meteorological Agency has released long-term weather forecasts for several regions, indicating a trend toward warmer temperatures due to the El Niño phenomenon and global warming.
In the Hokuriku region, temperatures from October to December are expected to be higher than average, leading to a ‘warm autumn’ with a slower progression of autumn colors. For the winter season (December to February), the region is projected to experience a warm winter with less snowfall. However, meteorologists warn that sudden incursions of cold air can still cause localized heavy snowfall, necessitating standard winter preparations.
In Okinawa, the winter forecast (December to February) predicts temperatures will be higher than average and rainfall will be more frequent than normal, influenced by El Niño and climate change trends.
