Japan Ministry of Education honors Wushu athletes at awards ceremony

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology held an awards ceremony in Tokyo to recognize outstanding achievements in competitive sports. Among the recipients were members of the Japan Wushu Tai Chi Federation.

From the 17th World Wushu Championships held in Brazil, Shiho Saito and head coach Kong Xiangdong received merit awards. Additionally, several athletes and coaches from the federation were honored for their performances at both the 17th World Wushu Championships and the 10th World Junior Wushu Championships.

During the ceremony, Minister of Education Yohei Matsumoto delivered remarks, which included condolences for victims of the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto earthquake. Representative speeches were also delivered by figure skater Kaori Sakamoto and para-alpine skier Toshi Yoshibumi.
