Japan offers subsidies for electric construction equipment and CO₂ unit calculation support
The Japanese government announced two subsidy programmes aimed at reducing emissions in the construction sector. The first, the “Fiscal Year 2025 (revised) Commercial Vehicles Electrification Promotion Project (Construction Machinery)”, provides up to two‑thirds of the price difference or half of the purchase price for GX‑certified electric construction machines and portable charging units. Applications are accepted through the online jGrants system until 29 January 2027, and the total budget is ¥1.43 billion.
A second programme, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s “CO₂ unit development support” for fiscal year 2026, funds the creation and third‑party verification of CO₂ emission factors for building materials and equipment. The scheme covers up to ¥4 million per product, with a maximum of ¥10 million per applicant, and runs until 24 December 2026. Value Frontier Co., Ltd. offers assistance to eligible industry groups and private firms in preparing these submissions.
