Japan organizations conduct regional disaster preparedness drills

Various organizations in Japan conducted disaster preparedness drills to enhance community safety and emergency response capabilities.

In Yokohama, a regional disaster drill was held at the Yokohama Hinatayama Support School. The exercise involved local residents and school staff, focusing on evacuation procedures, shelter management, and coordination between the community and the school. Participants also practiced preparing emergency food supplies, specifically testing the preparation time and quality of water-activated rice balls.

In Kochi Prefecture, Katsurahama Aquarium conducted staff training to prepare for potential risks such as the Nankai Trough earthquake, high tides, and heavy rain. The training included earthquake response drills, fire safety, and AED usage. The aquarium emphasized the importance of making disaster training engaging to ensure staff can effectively apply safety manuals during real emergencies.
