Japan pharmacy sector hosts community events and national awards

In Kyoto, approximately 700 parents and children participated in the ‘Yu Pharmacy Fest 2026’ held at the Kyoto Sangyo Kaikan. Organized by Yu Holdings, a major pharmacy group operating 108 locations in Kyoto and Shiga, the event allowed children to experience the work of pharmacists. Participants wore white coats and practiced tasks such as selecting medicine boxes based on mock prescriptions and filling containers with soft capsules.

Separately, the Japan Wellness Professional Association and YAKUNOWA have announced the relaunch of the ‘9th Everyone's Choice Pharmacy Award 2026’. Co-hosted with the Pharmacy Support Association, the award seeks to recognize pharmacies across Japan's 47 prefectures that demonstrate innovation in patient care and community contribution. Entries are being accepted until August 31, 2026, with a final competition scheduled for November 7 in Nakano, Tokyo.
