Japan police arrest men over firearms and nuisance ordinance violations

In Fuji‑miya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, a 68‑year‑old unemployed man was taken into custody on suspicion of violating the local nuisance‑prevention ordinance after repeatedly leaving food and a note requesting the victim to eat it at the victim’s doorway. The suspect admitted to the act but said he had no criminal intent.

In Kawasaki Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, two unemployed men aged 69 and 86 were arrested for alleged illegal possession of a pistol and nine rounds of ammunition, violating Japan’s firearms control law. Police seized the firearm from a storage box in one of the suspects’ homes after receiving an anonymous tip, and a total of eight guns have been confiscated in the broader investigation.
