Japan police arrest suspects after vehicle crashes and knife threat incidents

In Hiroshima, a 27-year-old police patrol officer was arrested on the spot after his car collided with an electricity pole, leaving the vehicle severely damaged. Police say the officer smelled of alcohol and is being investigated for suspected drunk driving.

In Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, a 45-year-old man drove his car into a convenience store, brandished a kitchen knife while wandering inside, and set fire to his nearby residence. Police used warning shots before detaining the suspect, who was also linked to a minor injury of a teenage shopper.

Both cases resulted in immediate arrests by authorities and are being investigated as serious violations of public safety laws.
