Japan police arrest two men for property damage during political incidents

In separate incidents in Japan, two men have been arrested for property damage related to political activities.

In Hyogo Prefecture, a 44-year-old consultant from Kobe was arrested by the Ikuta Police Station on suspicion of damaging property. The arrest occurred during a demonstration held in front of the Hyogo Prefectural Government office regarding Governor Motohiko Saito. The suspect is accused of bending and breaking a camera tripod belonging to a bystander. The individual has reportedly denied the allegations.

In Aichi Prefecture, a 47-year-old unemployed man, Mikihiro Kataoka, was arrested in connection with an incident at the office of the Mihama Town Council Chairperson. Authorities allege that last month, Kataoka broke glass in the office door using a flag and slashed two posters featuring Prime Minister Takaichi and Finance Minister Katayama with a blade-like object. Kataoka admitted to breaking the glass but denied tearing the posters.
