Japan police hold robbery drill in Ehime; Tokyo man detained for underwear theft
The Ehime Prefectural Police conducted a robbery‑prevention drill on June 15 at the pawn‑shop Kantei‑kyoku Matsumae R56 store in Matsumae‑cho. Officers staged a mock robbery with three suspects posing as customers, practiced suspect identification, and rehearsed emergency calls.
In Tokyo’s Akishima city, a 34‑year‑old man was arrested on July 15 for repeatedly breaking into unlocked homes and stealing women’s underwear. He told police the crimes were driven by “sexual urges and frustration.” Police are investigating possible links to other similar thefts in the area.
