Japan railway services face delays and potential cancellations
Railway services in Japan have faced disruptions due to signal checks and weather concerns. On October 18, the Tohoku Shinkansen temporarily suspended operations for signal confirmation at Tokyo Station. This caused delays of up to 60 minutes for 14 Hokuriku Shinkansen services between Tokyo and Takasaki, affecting approximately 10,200 passengers.
Additionally, JR Akita has warned of potential delays or cancellations on the Oga and Gono lines due to forecasted heavy rain in Akita Prefecture on October 19. Potential disruptions include the Oga Line between Oowaki and Oga from midday to evening, and the Gono Line between Higashi-Noshiro and Fukaura from early morning to midday.
