Japan records record current account surplus for third consecutive year

Japan's current account posted a surplus of 218 trillion yen in March, about 30% higher than the same month a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Finance. For the fiscal year ending March, the surplus reached a new high of 34.52 trillion yen (approximately $219 billion), marking the third straight year of record levels.

The stronger surplus reflects robust export performance and a favorable trade balance, reinforcing Japan's position as a major net creditor nation.
