Japan Regenerative Medicine Quality Council issues new health‑food ingredient guidelines

The Japan Regenerative Medicine Quality Standards Council (JRQ), led by Chairman Takuma Tanba, published two white‑paper style guidance documents for the health‑food sector. One paper provides a systematic framework for confirming the naming and part‑of‑the‑fungus used in mushroom‑derived ingredients, addressing inconsistencies among Japanese names, scientific names and trade names. The other paper outlines how to match raw‑material specifications with analytical methods for resveratrol ingredients, helping manufacturers reconcile supplier data with product labels.

Both documents are intended to support manufacturers in maintaining consistent records and to aid consumers in verifying ingredient information such as name, source, part used, dosage per daily intake and contact details. The council emphasizes that the guidance does not evaluate product efficacy and that health‑food products are not medicines.
