Japan reports multiple fatal and serious accidents involving elderly citizens
Multiple fatal and serious accidents involving elderly individuals and heavy vehicles have been reported across various regions in Japan.
In Miyagi Prefecture, a 98-year-old man riding a senior car was struck from behind by a light truck in Minamisanriku Town; he remains in critical condition with skull and shoulder fractures. Similarly, in Kyoto Prefecture, a 98-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a passenger vehicle on a curved city road in Uji.
In Kagoshima Prefecture, a 78-year-old woman is in critical condition following a collision between a light vehicle and a truck on a national highway in Minamisatsuma. In Ehime Prefecture, a 73-year-old man, a participant in the Saijo Festival, was found unconscious in a parking lot at the Matsuyama District Court Saijo Branch and later died.
Additionally, an investigation is underway in Kobe regarding a truck that collided with a city bus last month. Authorities discovered the truck was carrying sand exceeding its maximum load capacity, which may have contributed to a brake failure known as the ‘fade phenomenon’.
