Japan retailers launch 2027 New Year osechi reservations

Retailers in Japan have begun accepting reservations for 2027 New Year osechi (traditional celebratory cuisine). JTB Shopping is offering a selection of over 150 varieties, including offerings from luxury hotels, historic inns, and renowned restaurants such as the Regal Royal Hotel and Hotel Okura.

In Hokkaido, Daimaru Sapporo has also opened web reservations. Due to the 2027 New Year holidays falling on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, retailers are noting a trend toward individualized portions. To accommodate those unable to return to their hometowns due to work schedules, there is an increased focus on compact, single-serving options and products suitable for nationwide shipping. High-end options featuring regional Hokkaido ingredients, such as crab and specialty duck, remain a significant part of the market.
