Japan rideshare job openings decrease to 139 listings

Rideshare-related job openings in Japan decreased by 2.1% month-on-month to 139 listings as of late September 2026, according to a survey by Jidounten Lab. Despite a 44.8% increase compared to the same month last year, the industry is experiencing a period of stagnation.

Analysts suggest the lack of momentum is due to service expansion rights being largely restricted to taxi companies. Furthermore, the increasing feasibility and adoption of robotaxis—which do not require human drivers—are expected to limit significant future growth in traditional rideshare job listings.
