Japan sees record surge in Argentine tourism during 2026
Japan is experiencing a significant surge in tourism from Argentina, with 22,122 Argentine travelers visiting during the first half of 2026. This figure represents approximately 65.4% of the total number of Argentine visitors recorded in the entire year of 2025, which saw a previous record of 33,838 travelers.
Argentina has become the second-largest Spanish-speaking market in Latin America sending tourists to Japan, trailing only Mexico. The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) identified Argentina as a strategic market due to the growing interest in exploring diverse Japanese regions beyond traditional tourist circuits.
To promote these trends, the JNTO participated in the 30th International Tourism Fair (FIT) in Buenos Aires from September 26 to 29. During the public sessions of the fair, the Japanese stand attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
