Japan selects 10 para powerlifters for Aichi-Nagoya 2026

The Japan Para Powerlifting Federation (JPPF) has officially selected 10 athletes—six men and four women—to represent Japan at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games. The competition is scheduled to take place from October 19 to October 24, 2026, at the Nagoya City Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Hall.

Key athletes include Chikaka Tanaka, who holds a Japanese record in the women's 79kg class, and Eri Yamamoto, who is based in Aichi. The roster also features a notable matchup in the 80kg class between veteran lifter Odo, a three-time Paralympian, and rising talent Hino.

A significant addition to the event is the introduction of team events for men, women, and mixed categories. This marks the first time such team competitions will be held at an international WPPO-certified event in Japan. To prepare, the national team will participate in a training camp at the Tokyo Para Sports Training Center in late September.
