Japan sets regional high school baseball draws for Shizuoka and Kumamoto

The Shizuoka prefectural tournament for the summer national high‑school baseball championship held its draw on June 20 in Fuji City. A total of 108 schools (106 teams) entered, with the opening ceremony scheduled for June 28 and games beginning on July 4 across ten venues. Notable match‑ups include last year’s champion Seiryo Christopher facing the winner of Hamakita‑West and Fuji‑Miya‑West, while Chitoku will meet the winner of Enshu‑General and Fukugakan. The player’s oath will be taken by Akabira Daiwa captain of Fuji City High School.

In Kumamoto, the draw took place on June 18 in Kumamoto City, determining opponents for 59 schools (54 teams, including three combined teams). The tournament opens on July 4 and will conclude on July 24, with seeded teams such as Kumamoto Kō (spring selection), Kyushu Gakuin and others. The player’s oath will be delivered by Shōkoku’s captain, Shō Honda. Games will be staged at Ribwork Fujisakadai Stadium and Kumamoto Prefectural Yatsushiro Baseball Stadium, with heat‑stroke precautions limiting each venue to two matches per day in the early rounds.
