Japan skin health surveys reveal aging concerns and seasonal damage

Recent surveys conducted in Japan highlight growing concerns among women regarding skin aging and seasonal skin fluctuations. A study by Harinavi involving 500 women aged 20 to 40 found that 46% of respondents first noticed signs of aging in their 30s. The most common concerns reported were loss of firmness and elasticity, followed by dryness and dullness.

There is significant interest in holistic approaches, with 75% of women expressing interest in Oriental medicine and beauty acupuncture to address skin issues from within. However, many respondents noted difficulty in finding reliable specialized clinics.

Separately, a survey by PA Communication and Neo Marketing involving 897 women revealed that 55.6% experience skin redness or dryness during the autumn months. The primary cause cited was accumulated UV damage from the summer, followed by low humidity and temperature fluctuations. Common autumn skin issues include increased appearance of freckles, 'hidden dryness' where moisture does not penetrate the surface, and skin roughness. While some women adjust their skincare products seasonally, many report difficulty knowing which products to switch to.
