Japan Student Volunteers Support Gojūhen Children Festival and Welfare Programs

Sakura no Seibo Junior College’s Sanbei seminar (second‑year students) and first‑year volunteers participated in the Gojūhen Children Festival for the fourth time, operating a booth with an ema writing corner, an original character Ryūdon coloring page, paper‑cup kendama and a hand‑made gacha that children could earn after completing tasks. The activities attracted many children and concluded with a watermelon‑smashing game, fostering interaction and community learning.

Yachiyo Shōin Gakuen organized a summer home‑economics seminar where eleven middle‑school students visited a local daycare, an after‑school care center and a disability‑welfare facility. They engaged in hands‑on experiences such as gardening, printing, sign‑language and white‑cane use, and later reflected on child‑rearing support, welfare, communication and respectful interaction with diverse users.
