Japan survey reveals inequality in dual-income households

A survey conducted by Raisondetre Inc. in July 2026 reveals persistent feelings of inequality among full-time working women in dual-income households in Japan. The study focused on 600 women who reported feeling an unfair distribution of domestic burdens.

Key findings indicate that approximately 57.9% of these women live in households with an annual income of 8 million yen or more, with 25.4% earning over 12 million yen. Despite higher economic status, these women continue to experience significant stress regarding the division of labor. Furthermore, nearly 70% of the respondents reported that their husbands earn a higher income than they do.
