Japan survey shows majority support for redelivery fees
A survey conducted by Leverages Co., Ltd. via its Levjob service reveals that a majority of respondents in Japan support charging fees for package redelivery. The study, which surveyed 647 individuals, found that 52.7% of participants are in favor of implementing redelivery fees to reduce the burden on drivers.
Key findings indicate that over 92% of respondents have experienced requesting a redelivery, primarily due to not specifying a delivery time or failing to track scheduled windows. Regarding the ‘Logistics 2030 Problem,’ while roughly 55% of respondents are aware of the term, over 70% expressed anxiety regarding potential future delivery delays caused by driver shortages.
To address the labor shortage in the logistics sector, the survey identified wage increases (61.4%) and the reduction of redeliveries (53.9%) as the most necessary measures. Other suggested solutions included improving working conditions and increasing the use of delivery boxes and automated technologies.
