Japan to hold Autumn National Traffic Safety Campaign in September 2026

Japan will observe the Autumn National Traffic Safety Campaign from September 21 to September 30, 2026. The nationwide initiative aims to reduce traffic accidents through several key focus areas.

National priorities include ensuring pedestrian safety and promoting the use of reflective materials, preventing distracted driving caused by smartphone use, and enforcing traffic rules for bicycles and small motorized vehicles. Drivers are also encouraged to turn on headlights earlier during twilight hours and strictly avoid drunk driving.

In conjunction with the campaign, Chugoku Bus has issued safety reminders for passengers, emphasizing the importance of remaining seated until buses reach a stop to prevent falls. The company also noted that seatbelt use in rear seats is mandatory under the Road Traffic Act.
