Japan to host community disaster preparedness events in Tokyo and Kyoto

Various community-led disaster preparedness events are scheduled to take place in Japan on September 5, 2026, offering hands-on training for citizens of all ages.

In Tokyo, the “BOUSAI ACTION 2026” event will be held at Waterras in Chiyoda Ward. Co-hosted by students from Digital Hollywood University and the Kanda Fire Station, the free event features VR simulations of major earthquakes, vehicle displays including pump trucks and doctor cars, and practical training in firefighting and AED usage. The program also includes musical performances and a disaster-themed mystery-solving rally.

Simultaneously, in Kyoto, the “KYOTO Disaster Prevention in Fushimi” event will be held at the Fushimi Ward Office. This experiential event is designed to allow children and the elderly to learn about disaster prevention through various training games and equipment exhibitions.
