Japan to host mid-autumn moon viewing events in Kobe and Mie

Various cultural events are scheduled in Japan to observe the mid-autumn moon in September 2026.

In Kobe, a free moon-viewing event will be held at the Uniball Dome in the Gakuen-toshi area on September 25. The event features telescope observations and presentations on space led by astronomy researchers from Kobe National College of Technology and the University of Hyogo. Participation requires no prior registration.

In Mie Prefecture, Iga Railway will operate its 15th annual ‘Moon Viewing Train’ on September 26. The special service includes violin performances, vocal solos, and themed food items such as moon-viewing dumplings and bread. The event offers a unique atmosphere with dimmed lights inside the chartered carriages.
