Japan to release PS5 version of open‑world game Dune: Awakening this autumn
Spike Chunsoft announced that the Japanese PS5 version of the open‑world survival game Dune: Awakening will launch in the autumn, with the first source specifying a fall 2026 release. The game, developed by Funcom, draws on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune and Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film adaptation, placing players on the desert planet Arrakis as a spy seeking the lost Fremen. A PC version launched on Steam in June 2025, selling more than one million copies worldwide within two weeks. Dune: Awakening features up to 60 players on official servers, a new single‑player mode, extensive crafting, base‑building, and class‑based skill trees. An Xbox Series X|S version and a PC Microsoft Store release are also scheduled for later in the year, with Game Pass support planned.
