Japan U-18 baseball team begins training for Asia Championship

The Japan U-18 national baseball team has commenced its domestic training camp in preparation for the 14th BFA U-18 Asia Championship, scheduled to take place in Taipei, Taiwan, from September 7 to 13. The squad, led by manager Ryusei Okada, features several standout players from the recent summer Koshien tournament, including Yokohama High School's top draft prospect Oda Shoki and captain Shunyu Ono.

As part of their preparations, the team played a practice match against Waseda University on August 27, securing a 1-0 victory. During the game, left-handed pitcher Yuta Maeda from Takaoka Daiichi High School delivered a strong performance, reaching speeds of 153 km/h and expressing his intention to pursue a professional career.

The team is scheduled to play a farewell match against the Japan University national team on August 29 at Meiji Jingu Stadium. Japan aims to secure its sixth championship title at the upcoming Asian tournament.
