Japan U-19 dominates Cambodia 8-0 in AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers

The Japan U-19 national team has moved closer to qualifying for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup by securing a dominant 8-0 victory over host nation Cambodia in the second match of Group G. This win follows their 4-0 victory against Kuwait in the opening round, leaving Japan at the top of the group with a perfect record of two wins, 12 goals scored, and zero conceded.

Japan took a 2-0 lead into halftime with goals from Nick Schmidt and Homare Tokuda. The offensive surge intensified in the second half, with Japan scoring six additional goals through players including Yuna Kidera, Fuga Tokumura, Asato Fujita, Ren Magie Jerany, and Riki Cho, alongside an own goal.

Japan will face Yemen in their final group match on September 6. A draw or a win will guarantee their qualification as group leaders. If they lose, their advancement will depend on comparisons with other second-place teams across the eight qualifying groups.
