Japan video game sales: Switch 2 and Kingdom Hearts lead October week

Weekly sales data for video game hardware and software in Japan for the period of October 5 to October 11, 2026, shows strong performance for new releases and the Nintendo Switch 2.

In software, the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I ~ III] by Square Enix led the charts with 23,411 units sold on the Switch 2. Other notable titles included Rhythm Heaven Groove, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen.

Regarding hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2 recorded 22,420 units sold, followed by the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition with 11,611 units. Other models including the Switch OLED, Switch Lite, and various PlayStation and Xbox consoles also saw sales during this period.
