Japan-Vietnam economic cooperation expands as investment interest rises

Following the upgrade of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023, cooperation between Japan and Vietnam is expanding across government, economic, investment, and human resource sectors.

According to a survey by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Vietnam is viewed as one of the most high-potential markets for Japanese businesses. Approximately 57% of Japanese enterprises operating in Vietnam plan to expand their business operations within the next one to two years. This marks the second consecutive year that Vietnam has recorded the highest rate of planned business expansion among Japanese companies in the ASEAN region.

Market scale and growth potential are the primary drivers for this interest, with 68% of surveyed businesses citing these factors, significantly higher than the ASEAN average of 49%.
