Japan weather: Clear skies return amid typhoon and temperature warnings
Japan is experiencing a period of widespread clear skies for the first time in approximately five months. While the dry air and low humidity are making for pleasant conditions, meteorologists warn of significant temperature fluctuations. Some regions have already recorded temperatures below freezing, such as Mount Fuji, while daytime highs are expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius during the upcoming three-day weekend.
Two typhoons are currently active in the waters south of Japan. Typhoon 28 is moving north away from the main islands, while Typhoon 29 may approach the Ogasawara Islands early next week. Although the typhoons are not expected to make a direct hit on Honshu, they are expected to cause high waves and swells along the Pacific coasts of the Kanto, Tohoku, and Izu Islands. Residents are advised to remain cautious of high waves and to manage their health amidst the sharp temperature changes.
