Japan weather: Extreme heat in west and heavy rain in Hokuriku

Japan is experiencing a period of extreme weather characterized by intense heat in western regions and heavy rainfall in others. In western and eastern Japan, temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels, with Nagoya forecasted to hit 38°C and other cities like Osaka and Fukuoka seeing highs of 35°C to 36°C. Residents are advised to take precautions against heatstroke.

In the Hokuriku region, heavy rain has caused concerns regarding landslides. While the peak of the rainfall may have passed in areas like Fukui Prefecture, strict vigilance is required due to the risk of soil disasters. Meanwhile, northern Japan is expected to see more cloud cover and intermittent rain.

In Okinawa and the surrounding islands, a tropical depression is influencing weather patterns. The Okinawa main island and Daito Islands are expected to experience cloudy skies and temporary rain due to moist air from the depression. The Sakishima Islands may face heavy rain accompanied by thunder, while coastal areas should prepare for high waves and swells.
