Japan weather: Heatwave forecast for Kyoto and highway signage error in Toyama

In Toyama Prefecture, the Central Nippon Expressway Company announced that electronic signage on the Hokuriku Expressway incorrectly displayed a road closure between the Tonami and Kosugi interchanges. Although the closure was lifted at 6:00 AM on August 28, three simplified display boards continued to show “Tonami—Kosugi Rain Road Closed” until approximately 7:55 AM. No accidents or traffic congestion resulted from the error.

Meanwhile, in the Kinki region, the Osaka Meteorological Observatory has issued high-temperature information. Forecasts indicate that warm, moist air will flow into the region between August 30 and September 1, with Kyoto City expected to see temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius despite it being September. This follows a period of intense weather, including heavy rain and potential for further severe rainfall in the area.
