Typhoon 31 approaches Ogasawara Islands while Japan faces variable weather
Typhoon 31, a very strong storm with a central pressure of 950hPa, is currently stationary near the Ogasawara Islands. The typhoon is expected to move slowly toward the south of Japan, bringing high waves to the Ogasawara region and potentially causing rain in the Kanto area due to surrounding moist air.
Across mainland Japan, weather patterns are shifting toward a winter-type pressure distribution. While the Pacific side expects sunny conditions and temperatures reaching up to 25°C in some areas, the Sea of Japan side and northern regions, including Hokkaido, are bracing for rain, snow, and wind. In Hokkaido, snow is expected in some areas, and strong winds may cause blizzard-like conditions.
Forecasters note that while the typhoon is unlikely to make direct landfall, its influence may bring heavy rain to eastern Japan later in the week. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for rapid temperature fluctuations and dry conditions.
