Japan wrestling team begins training for Asian Games and World Championships

The Japanese men’s Greco-Roman wrestling national team held an open training session at the Ajinomoto National Training Center in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya this September and the World Championships in Kazakhstan this October.

Paris Olympics gold medalist Hisashi Kusaka, competing in the 77kg class, expressed his determination to win gold in his first Asian Games appearance. Alongside him, rising star Taizo Yoshida, the 87kg class representative and recent U20 World Champion, shared his ambitions of achieving a Grand Slam by targeting major international titles.

Other representatives, including Ayudai Suzuki (60kg), Kyotaro Sogabe (67kg), Yuki Nakazato (97kg), and Yuta Nara (130kg), also shared their goals of securing medals and building momentum toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
